Troop 007 is one of two BSA Troops in Singapore. Like to campout? Want to learn to cook in the outdoors? How about practice first aid or learn to tie knots, pitch a tent, or learn and practice orienteering skills. All of this awaits you on the Trail to First Class. What is first Class you might ask? In the Boy Scouts, you are recognized for your achievements by acquiring certain skills and then are awarded badges of various rank. The first three ranks in scouting are Scout, Tenderfoot and Second Class. As you achieve rank you take on more responsibilities and learn more skills. You are also expected to help out more during the regular troop meetings and campouts as well as be a guide to younger scouts. Boys must work on a lot of skills in order to achieve the rank of First Class. Troop 07 was chartered in Singapore over 20 years ago. The troop has over 40 active scouts of all ages and, on average, over 10 active adult leaders. Troop meetings are held every Tuesday evening (excluding school holidays) from 6:15pm to 7:30 pm at the Singapore American Scool room H301. Scoutmaster conferences, patrol leader meetings and other pre-meeting events are normally scheduled at 7:00 pm. An outing is featured each month of the school year, including campouts, sailingtrips, backpacking, and jungle survival.
The best way to join Troop 07 in Singapore is to come to our regular Troop meeting which is held in Room H301 at the American School (High School) at 6:15pm on most Tuesdays. You can also contact us through this website. Like many Boy Scout troops, Troop 07 is a boy led troop. Our adult leaders are here to guide. This method ensures that our scouts get the most out of scouting. The Troop usually has one campout per month plus summer camp. Troop Structure
The Scoutmaster is directly responsible to the Troop Committee for planning and implementing a good, viable program. He is responsible for the physical, mental, and spiritual welfare and development of each Scout during troop functions. Assistant Scoutmasters directly help the Scoutmaster implement plans for meetings and activities. Assistant Scoutmasters are at least 18 years old and been officially registered and recognized as “adult leaders” by the BSA. Their role is mainly that of coach, teaching the boy leaders to run the troop. Representatives of the scout parents form the troop committee. The Committee is responsible for setting troop policy, ensuring that that the objectives of Scouting are being realized through the troop program, and raising funds. Advancement
