Scouts Tour the USS Ronald Reagan (CNV-76)

uss_ronaldreaganScouts and family members from Troop #07 got the amazing chance to visit the USS Ronald Reagan while the ship was berthed in Singapore for a port visit. Scouts were able to interact with U.S. Sailors that are stationed on board the newest U.S. Navy's Aircraft Carrier, we even was able to meet up with two former Eagle Scouts ready to get back to their home port in San Diego, CA.


Some interesting facts about the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) the 9th Nimitz-Class Aircraft Carrier, Commissioned in July 2003,
  • Named after the 40th U.S. President and carries the motto “Peace Through Strength”.
  • Over 5,000 Sailors serve on board USS Ronald Reagan, they hail from 50 states and from more than 40 different nations.
  •  Women account for 20 percent of the crew and serve in all capacities alongside their male counterparts.
  • The average age of a sailor on board the USS Ronald Reagan is 19 years of age.
  • The average age of a sailor on the flight deck on board the USS Ronald Reagan is 22 years of age.
  • Weight: 97,000 tons (with a full load) and towers 20 stories above the waterline.
  •  Length: 1,092 feet (taller than the Eiffel Tower).
  • Powered by two nuclear reactors that can operate for more than 20 years without refueling.
  • Carries over 60 combat aircraft, F/A-18C Hornets, F/A-18E Super Hornets, EA-6B Prowlers, E-2C Hawkeyes, C-2A Greyhounds, and SH-60 Seahawk and HH-60 Knighthawk helicopters.
  •  Flight Deck area is equal to 4.5 acres of Sovereign U.S. Territory.
  • Sailors bunk size 3 feet high, 6.5 feet long, over 2 feet wide.
  • Over 15,000 Meals served, 205 loaves of bread baked, 100 dozen fresh eggs cooked, 250 gallons of milk consumed daily.
